In the late 1960s, Mickey Jupp formed Legend - a band which helped lay the groundwork for pub rock. When this group split, Mickey embarked on a solo career, eventually signing to Stiff Records.
This compilation of BBC recordings represents Mickey at his most active during the late 1970s. Included here is the only known recording of the track, 'Wrong Food'.
The booklet includes lengthy liner notes and several rare, previously unpublished photographs.

The CD debut for this wonderfully eccentric slice of Welsh Acid rock from Man member Clive John.
Contrary to popular belief, the Welsh rock scene wasn’t sired by the Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, The Stereophonics et al, but owes a great deal to artists such as Dave Edmunds, Andy Fairweather Low and bands such as Help Yourself and Man. Of these bands, Man produced some of the most consistent albums of the 1970’s for the United Artists label and subsequently MCA. Founder member Clive John recorded this superb solo album in 1975 and enlisted the help of Man members Martin Ace and Phil Ryan, and Andy Fairweather Low to record a classic example of Welsh rock at its most inventive. The Eclectic Discs reissue includes the previously unreleased full version of Hold Your Ferret Aloft

The successful story of Survivor began in the cold winter of the year 1977, but only three albums and five years later this name becomes well-known all over the world, when the band composed "Eye Of the Tiger" for the movie "Rocky III" with Sylvester Stallone, which entered at # 1 of the charts in many countries. After the next album "Caught In The Game", the former Target and Cobra shouter Jimi Jamison was introduced to the fans, making his debut on the worldwide hit (soundtrack of "Rocky IV" and # 2 in the american charts) "Burning Heart". The following album, in 1984, "Vital Signs" is still counted nowadays among the milestones of melodic rock, with tracks like "Can't Hold Back" or "High On You". "Can't Hold Back" entered the Top Ten of the american charts, the second single release "The Search Is Over" reached Nr. 2 on the hot 100. "When Seconds Count" showed the band in a harder musical side, but kept the typical trademarks of the Survivor sound and reached the USA Top Ten again with the single "Is This Love". "Too Hot To Sleep" was the title of the last Survivor record in 1988, which is still considered by many as their best record, containing the singles "Across The Miles" and "Didn't Know It Was Love". This was the last sign of life from this remarkable band up to now, besides Jimi's solo album "When Love Comes Down", there were just two Greatest Hits compilations released, which were quite popular by the fans. With "Empires", Jimi Jamison presents a fine collection of mature compositions unmistakeably in the Survivor sound. With "I'm Always Here" there's the titletrack of the most popular TV series "Baywatch", which is written and performed by Jimi himself. This daily soap is broadcasted in 142 countries and has an average attendance figure of 1,42 Billion people each day. Of course Jimi, on "Empires", covers the whole emotional spectre from rock songs to ballads and make people of every age feel enthusiastic. The titletrack is a wonderful ballad: a fantastic duet between Jimi's unique rock voice and Lisa Frazier, who embodies the female counter part, making the listener holding the breath. Pearls like "Cry Tough" or the guitar oriented "Run From The Thunder" own all quality criteria of highbrowed rock music and are in contrast to the nowadays musical fastfood. In few words "Empires" is an absolute classic album of the rock history already! Special bonus additions for this new release of the album are the Christmas song "Keep It Evergreen" and a driving live version of the Survivor classic "Too Hot To Sleep".
