Deep Purple in 1972 was reaching the height of their success, with hit singles and albums worldwide. Into this heady atmosphere they delivered one of the most famous rock albums of all time, 'Machine Head'.

1972 saw them premier the new album at concerts in Europe, Japan and America (with no fewer than six tours there that year), delivering the powerful new 'Machine Head' set. It was a concert in the Danish capital of Copenhagen that the first (and only) full film of the famous Mk 2 line-up presented here was made, and is now available on DVD for the first time.

Recorded March 1, 1972, it was originally filmed by Danmark Radio, Denmark's national radio and television station. The black and white footage was never screened in full and ended up lying dormant in the company's vaults. As far as is known it remains the only complete visual document of a Deep Purple Mk2 concert.

The tour continued through to 1973 when Deep Purple returned to America, selling out more shows and shifting more albums than they had ever done. A camera crew turned up to film the group in New York in May for the 'In Concert' show, and this is also released here for the first time in glorious colour (on any format), including the only performance of the line-up doing 'Smoke on The Water'.

'Deep Purple Live In Concert 72/73' also features on screen histories, optional commentary (spoken by Jon Kirkman), audio options and comes complete with a detailed booklet.

Deep Purple were the biggest selling album act in America when they embarked on a 28 day tour promoting their new album "Burn". The undoubted climax of this tour was headlining the California Jam Festival at Ontario Speedway in California, in front of 200,000 people. Their explosive set is presented here on DVD for the first time.

The set-list includes tracks from "Burn", as well as classics like "Space Truckin'" and "Smoke On The Water". As the show came to a close, Blackmore - angered by troubles back-stage - took his revenge on one of the TV cameras, before exploding his amps and destroying several guitars. It made for a visually astonishing climax to the set, and almost got the band banned from playing live in America again.

This fully restored edition contains a missing track, bonus camera angles, commentaries, 4 page booklet and many other bonus options.
